The hearing in two of the several suits filed against the
presidential candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC)General
Muhammadu Buhari before a Federal High Court in Abuja could not go on
yesterday due to the non-service of the defendants written address on
the plaintiff in the suit.
There are about 15 pending suits against Buhari over alleged certificate forgery and perjury.
In
the first suit filed by Chike Okafor, he is asking for an order
compelling INEC to remove or delete the name of Buhari and his party,
APC in the list of persons and political parties eligible to contest for
the office of president.
When the case came up yesterday, lawyer
to Okafor, Mike Ozekhome (SAN) informed the court that he has not been
served with the defendant’s response to the suit.
But the lead
lawyer to Buhari, Chief Akin Olujinmi (SAN), who led about 10 other SANs
told the court that their response to the suit had been served on the
plaintiff.
After receiving the defendants” response to the suit in
court, Ozekhome prayed the court for a short adjournment in order to
respond to the issues raised.
Justice Adeniyi Ademola later adjourned the matter till March 19.
