Walid Jibrin says that Nigeria’s former president
Olusegun Obasanjo should apologise to the Peoples Democratic Party
(PDP) to be readmitted.
The PDP’s secretary of the Board of Trustees made his position known
on February 28 in Marmara, Nasarawa state, as he celebrated his son’s
defection from the All Progressives Congress (APC) to the PDP.
This comes as another reaction to Obasanjo’s public resignation,
accompanied by him tearing his party membership card into pieces.
Jibrin was quoted as saying by Premium Times:
“Obasanjo must offer unreserved apology before he is admitted and his card re-issued.”
The official noted, however, that the ex-president would be welcome back to the PDP.
“Even Obasanjo who tore our card, if he decides to say I want a
new card we will give him and he will apologise to Nigerians and our
party, the PDP, then we will bring him back.
“Our party is a disciplined party and disciplines every member from the lowest to the highest.”
Meanwhile, it was reported yesterday that another politician who tore
his PDP membership card in public, Abdullahi Muhammad, was said to have
been badly beaten by thugs.
