The re-election bid of Kaduna State governor Mukhtar Ramalan Yero at
the weekend got a boost as his friends, associates and well-wishers at a
fund-raising dinner donated about N1.5billion in support of the
election slated for April 11, 2015.
The event which held at the
Hotel Seventeen had in attendance the vice president, Arc Namadi Sambo,
former governor of the state, Senator Mohammed Ahmed Makarfi, the
national organising secretary of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP),
Abubakar Mustapha, senior special assistant to the president on public
affairs, Doyin Okupe among other political heavyweights in the state and
outside the state from the ruling party.
Worthy of mention are
some Igbos, some resident in Kaduna State and others outside the state,
who came in their numbers to show solidarity to the governor’s
re-election bid, and donated substantial amounts of money to support the
cause.
Others who gave various sums of money included state
contractors, political appointees, family friends and well-wishers, some
of who gave their widow’s mite.
Vice President Sambo in his
address to the fund raising dinner appealed to the good people of the
state to rally round support for all the candidates of the PDP in the
election.
