The re-election bid of Kaduna State governor Mukhtar Ramalan Yero at the weekend got a boost as his friends, associates and well-wishers at a fund-raising dinner donated about N1.5billion in support of the election slated for April 11, 2015.
The event which held at the Hotel Seventeen had in attendance the vice president, Arc Namadi Sambo, former governor of the state, Senator Mohammed Ahmed Makarfi, the national organising secretary of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Abubakar Mustapha, senior special assistant to the president on public affairs, Doyin Okupe among other political heavyweights in the state and outside the state from the ruling party.

Worthy of mention are some Igbos, some resident in Kaduna State and others outside the state, who came in their numbers to show solidarity to the governor’s re-election bid, and donated substantial amounts of money to support the cause.
Others who gave various sums of money included state contractors, political appointees, family friends and well-wishers, some of who gave their widow’s mite.
Vice President Sambo in his address to the fund raising dinner appealed to the good people of the state to rally round support for all the candidates of the PDP in the election.
